A woman with scissors who allegedly lunged at a man on a Universal City subway platform was in custody this morning on felony violations in an incident that left five people injured.

Dache Owens, 31, was booked early today for assault with a deadly weapon, and she was being held on $30,000 bail, according to Lt. Ron Kegel of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's transit services bureau.

One of the victims was taken to a hospital for a cut on his torso that was not considered life-threatening, Kegel said. The other four people suffered minor cuts, he said.

The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Universal City Red Line platform. The woman allegedly pulled out scissors and lunged at a man on the platform.

Other people who were waiting for the subway "thought the man might have been assaulting the woman, so they became involved," Kegel said.

"I don't know if there was any connection or what, if any[thing], was the provocation," Kegel said.

The incident is under investigation, he said.
